Tom & Jerry Tea Drink
Bring this to your next work party, or serve it for your holiday gathering. Kids will love it after a day of sledding (without the alcohol, of course).
Recipe for one pitcher:
7 Cedar Lake Teas Apricot Chai Organic Tea bags
7 Cups boiling water
1/3 Cup (packed and heaping) brown sugar
1 tsp nutmeg
Brandy (we used 5 shots for the pitcher - so do it to taste)
Boil 7 cups of water in a pot on the stove. Add 7 tea bags and let steep for 6-8 minutes (they may get bitter if you leave in longer). Remove bags and set aside. Add brown sugar and nutmeg to pot and stir until dissolved. Add brandy.
If you'd like to make a second batch, our tea bags can be steeped a second time (they are a larger serving than most tea bags and are a whole leaf tea - not crushed). Repeat the directions for a second pitcher, using the same tea bags you set aside.
Enjoy topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
So yesterday, Cedar Lake Teas was invited to sample a few teas at Family Fresh Grocery in New Richmond, WI (our hometown) for a Chamber member event. We jump at the opportunity to serve locals!
So the question was, which teas to serve? I knew I wanted a few hot and a cold- it's fall and people are leaning more toward hot tea, but sometimes with food, a good iced tea helps wash it all down.
I choose our Sweet Ginger Green. The caffeine level was perfect for evening and it has a nice clean taste that doesn't overpower the rich food that was also being served. It's also versatile because it's light, not too heavy in ginger and not too sweet - which makes it a great pallet for mixing in ingredients.
I thought about adding lemon, honey, and more ginger, which would be so delicious. But to showcase the tea and not overpower with additions, I went with a simple syrup of brown sugar and water.
The feedback was amazing! Even people who said they were not tea drinkers, went for the iced over the hot and said they could drink this tea! Converts in the making!
So I'm saving this one for the recipe book. It was delicious! I think it would be great even in winter, at a work or church party, friend or family gatherings, or just a weekend lunch.
Let me know what you think!
Sweet Ginger Goodness

Heat but do not boil 8 cups cold water in a large pot. Add 5 tea bags. Steep tea 6-8 minutes. Remove tea bags.
In a separate pot, boil one cup water and add brown sugar. Boil 1 minute until sugar dissolves. Add syrup to tea and place in refrigerator to cool. When ready to serve add ice if desired.
